I have been on the road for months. Short stints back in my hometown of Toronto.
Most of my travels revolved around the people of the places I went. I spent so much of my time in peoples’ place of work or home, sharing their art, expertise, craft, local knowledge, politics, social network, and life. I have been extremely fortunate in this unforeseen amassment of experiences in such a short span of time. It does not come without a price, of course - fatigue, holding off on personal projects and family, and taking more plane trips than my carbon footprint has a right to, no doubt. But I do not plan to waste the privilege of the global travel, and I do hope I made some inroads with others towards harmony and cultural awareness.
I am on my way home, and this time for the rest of the summer. Time to catch up.
I have just been in rural Switzerland, in the Appenzell region, where I was able to be part of the beginnings of a wonderful new series, as well as witness and film a performance inside a cave. I am going to release the performance film by late fall, it features Peter Mettler (image mixing, https://www.petermettler.com/framemixes), Vincent Hänni, and Gabriel Scotti (http://www.migroz.com/en/label/info). Truly a magical, once-in-a-lifetime piece that I am excited to share digitally.
JAPAN was beautiful. I only got to see Tokyo, but next time..
FWI Media was shooting Retail Prophet’s Doug Stephens (https://www.retailprophet.com/about/) in an upcoming web series about the future of retail. Very cool city, very cool people, very cool subject - I am literally 1000% cooler after getting a little drop of the cutting edge and daring ways of the retail and the Harajuku teens and the Shibuya music scenes in that town.
Welcome to my new site. It is in its infancy.
I will use this space to share new projects I am working on, as well as insights into recently completed projects and what it took to make them.
I just got back from Winnipeg, a city full of, as promised on the license plates, FRIENDLY people. It was one of the finer places to film that I have visited in the past few years. I cannot wait to share the footage and story that came out of our visit.
